CMG Employee Spotlight: Haley McGrath

Welcome to our new and improved CMG blog, just like before, we are going to keep you up to date on topics and trends in the marketing world but we also want to highlight our employees to give you an inside look into Columbia Marketing Group. So, come on in and make yourself comfortable.

Our CMG employee spotlight series was created to ask our employees about what life inside CMG is like for them. We want to give you the ability to hear from our employees so you can see why they chose to work here and what gets them excited to come to work each and every day.

First up is Haley McGrath, an Account Coordinator Manager on our team. Haley is new to the CMG team, starting at the beginning of September 2017.

 

Tell us a little about yourself: Hello everyone, my name is Haley McGrath and I am from Fulton, Missouri.

I just graduated from William Woods University in May 2017 with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, a concentration in Management of Information Systems, and a minor in Fine Art. Kind of a weird mix, I know, but art is one of my many passions and I wanted to take advantage of the great professors at WWU and use those four years to enhance my skill, all while learning about business and computers. Coming from such a small campus, it is easy to get involved and make a difference, I was involved in many activities throughout college including Greek life, honor societies, and volunteer work. My experience at William Woods prepared me to be a leader and team player, after being Vice President, then President of my sorority, Chi Omega, I discovered my leadership style. I believe my time at WWU fully prepared me to work on a team like the one here at CMG.

Right now, I’m working on finishing up my MBA in Entrepreneurial Leadership at William Woods, so when I’m not at work, I’m doing homework. But all of that hard work will pay off in May 2018 when I graduate again!

How did your journey at CMG begin? My journey at CMG is an interesting one, I was offered an internship here in June 2017 where I learned the ins and outs of digital marketing, after interning here for just under 3 months, I was offered a full time position! So, in September, I started as an Account Coordinator for CMG. I’m still learning new things each and every day, but my internship really prepared me for working full time in this environment. As time goes on I can’t wait to become a marketing master so I can help businesses all over Mid-Missouri.

How is working on the CMG team different than at other companies you have worked at? Working at CMG is WAY different than any of my past job experiences, for starters, I feel like I am actually learning and improving my skillset. I have picked up so many new strategies and tips for making your brand stand out, and I can’t wait to learn more. Another great thing that makes CMG different than other companies is the flexible nature of the company. They just get it here, they know you’ve got a busy schedule and life, so they make work work for you. We work hard and we have fun, it’s the best of both worlds.

What most excites and motivates you about coming to work each day? There are a lot of exciting things about my job here at CMG, but one that really does it for me is seeing results. We create monthly reports for each of our clients to show them what we are doing to improve their business, one of my favorite things is seeing those results and showing them how what we do really does impact their company.

Any last minute tips? My last minute tip would be to apply for an internship! You never know where it is going to take you, and you just might learn a lot along the way.
